Easy Trick to Untwist Your Guitar Strap
Leather Care
For long-lasting wear, follow the care tips on this page—so your Mary and Shelley piece only gets better over time.

Avoid Prolonged Exposure
Keep your bag away from direct sunlight, heat, and humidity to preserve the natural leather finish. Long exposure can cause fading, drying, or cracking—just like vintage vinyl left on the dash.

Protect Before You Play
Before your first wear, we recommend applying a leather protector spray or light beeswax balm. This helps create a moisture barrier to resist stains and light rain. Reapply every few months, especially in humid or unpredictable weather.

If It Gets Soiled
If your bag gets wet or stained, blot gently with a clean microfiber or soft cotton cloth—don’t rub. Let it air dry naturally, away from heat. Then apply a leather salve or conditioner to restore softness. Avoid harsh cleaners, soaps, or alcohol-based products.

Condition Monthly
Once a month, treat your leather bag with a natural leather conditioner such as Skidmore's Leather Balm. This keeps the material supple and hydrated. Do not condition suede, nubuck, or patent leather. For suede, use a suede brush to lift the nap and remove dirt.

Store Between Sets
When not in use, stuff your bag with clean paper or soft fabric (never newspaper—ink can transfer). Store in a cotton dust bag or natural pillowcase. Keep buckles unclasped and straps relaxed to avoid impressions. Store in a cool, dry space—never plastic bins or direct sunlight.
